To ensure that each portrait was personal and meaningful to the participant, the project employed an implicit-association test at the beginning of each pre-shoot interview. This test helped the participant to identify the key visual element that they wanted to express through the portrait. The participant also provided the title of the photograph, further emphasizing the personal significance of the image.
